EVENTS DIARY - 2008

Watch this space for details of some of the events this year where we will be selling Berkshire cider and perry directly to the public.

Sunday 16 March

Sheepdrove Organic Farm Lambing Day,
Lambourn, Hungerford, Berks RG17 7UU.
11 am to 4 pm

Sheepdrove normally hold two or three open days each year, and they always want us to sell our mulled cider during the colder weather. Because of the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in 2007, this will be the first such open day for a year. It will probably be the last chance to buy bottles of ROYAL COUNTY and ABBEY GOLD.

Saturday 3 -
Monday 5 May

The Big Apple Cider and Perry Trials,
The Village Hall, Putley, Ledbury, Herefordshire.
Sunday - 2 to 6pm, Monday - 12 noon to 5pm

A prestigious competition for craft cider and perry makers, organised as a part of Blossomtime, an annual celebration of their heritage by the parishes of the Marcle Ridge. Following the competition on the Saturday, the Hall is open to visitors on the Sunday and Monday for tasting the entries, while some of the producers have stalls selling their produce.
We have been attending the Trials since 2000, and will have a stall here again this year.

Monday 5 May

Bradfield Mayfayre 2008,
The Village Playing Field, Bradfield Southend, Reading, Berkshire.
Gates open 12 noon

Wyatt's Cider, one of our two fellow members of West Berkshire Cider Makers, will have their cider on sale at this annual event, which this year includes Pig Racing and Tossing the Bale!

Sunday 1 June

Sheepdrove Organic Farm Family Fun Day,
Lambourn, Hungerford, Berks RG17 7UU.
2 - 8 pm

This summer event is being held as part of National Farm Open Day, and as well as the popular farm tours there will be a live Ceildieh Band (Barn Dance) and a wide range of activities for all ages. The organisers aim to create the feel of a traditional country fair.
We have been invited to have a stall in the courtyard in front of the Conference Centre, and as well as our bottle-fermented perry we shall be selling the products of our two partners in West Berkshire Cider Makers.

Sunday 20 July

Great Shefford Country Fair
Shefford Primary School, Wantage Road, Great Shefford,
Hungerford, Berks RG17 7DB.
11.30am - 4.30 pm

This is the third country fair that the village of Great Shefford has held, and we have been invited to have a stall to sell our products and that of our colleagues in West Berkshire Cider Makers.

Saturday 23 -
Monday 25 August

The White Horse Show, Fawler Road, Uffington, Faringdon, Oxfordshire.
10 am to 5 pm each day

For the third year we shall have a stall on all three days of the Bank Holiday weekend at this delightful country show, although the showground is only open on the Saturday for visitors to the Pony Gynmkhana. Once again we will only be allowed to sell our products in bottle or flagon to be taken away. Look out for our smart new green and white marquee with our banner!

Saturday 13 September

Coleshill Food Festival and Open Day, Coleshill, Swindon, Wilts SN6 7PT.
11 am to 5 pm

This event was held for the first time in 2005 at the National Trust's Buscot and Coleshill Estate, between Highworth and Faringdon. It proved to be very successful, and we have been invited to participate again this year.

Sunday 5 October

Celebration of Harvest at The Walled Garden, Down Grange, Kempshott, Basingstoke, Hants.
11 am to 4 pm

This annual event was run by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and attracted a wide range of interesting producers, including apple growers, as well as members of the public. The council has now pulled out, but a consortium of private individuals has taken it on, and we shall be having a stall there again this year, selling the first hot mulled cider of the season.

OTHER EVENTS

Our perry (and probably the cider of the other two members of West Berkshire Cider Makers) will also be on sale by the organisers at the following event:

Thur 1 - Sun 4 May Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2008, King's Meadow, Reading, Berks.
(For opening times, see the Festival website)

The third largest CAMRA beer festival in the country and the venue for judging the champion cider and perry.
Cider and perry from all three members of West Berkshire Cider Makers will be on sale here.
